Geocache Description:

There are many works of art and sculptures on the ANU Campus. I think this one is fantastic and well worth the extra visitors that a micro cache here should bring. I hope you have enough time to also enjoy the art work, it really is amazing what the human mind can create!

Please note that whilst you don't NEED a tool to retreive this micro, you may find it helps if you do. Please be careful to return it to the same position that it is in. Happy caching!

An astronomy-inspired sculpture by renowned international artist Wolfgang Buttress is the location for this micro cache. The highly polished four-metre diameter stainless steel sphere, entitled UNA, features 9,000 laser and hand-cut perforations which represent the stars visible to the naked eye in the southern hemisphere, sized according to their luminosity. The two-tonne structure reveals its magic when you look inside, peering through the hole of a single ‘star’ to see hundreds of tiny light specks reflected on the highly-polished inner sphere.

The artwork was designed in collaboration with Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics astronomer, Dr Daniel Bayliss, to ensure scientific accuracy.

A double congratulations to both Black Bunny and Domsky for a joint FTF!
