Thhe church was consecrated in 1877 when a rich family could establish a new parish complete with a church and vicarage. In 1867, an enthusiastic northerner, Henry Bury, bought a 750 acre estate comprising a mansion by the sea, Branksome Towers and Branksome Park. He took great care to preserve the natural environment and also set aside a plot of land for the new church. He laid the foundation stone in 1875. Sadly he died within a year and was unable to see the church completed. It is a small and compact church, well proportioned with a restful apprearance. It is a very popular church with a full range of services and large congregations.
The cache was resited in October 2016 and is now a very short walk from the church. However, first you must look for a memorial stone, next to the 4th buttress on the south side of the church. Copy down the ten letters of the old English County and number each letter in a revolving sequence. Each number of the coordinates is in code but where does the sequence start? The cache can be found at N: AM LE.CLN W:MMB AL.UBR
If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list.
