Über Jahrhunderte trugen spanische Seefahrer Edelsteine, Gold und Diamanten zusammen. Um die Reichtümer vor den wilden Piraten zu beschützen, versteckten sie einen Schatz in der Nähe von Corralejo und der einfallsreiche Tretboot-Kapitän José entwickelte ein Hinweisrätsel, um den Standort des Schatzes stets wiederfinden zu können. Zum Dank nannten die Seefahrer José von da an ‚Kapitän Gracias‘ und ehren ihn noch heute für seine clevere Schatzkarte..
