Rehabilitation work was completed for each site in 2011 to provide for "Day Use" only. Please park in designated areas only (maximum capacity of 3 vehicles per site). Access is walk in only from the parking area to the day-use site. *** NO PARKING IN FRONT OF ANY GATES *** At site #1 there is access to unload your canoe, kayak or small aluminum boat (maximum walking distance from the unload area to the lake is 10 m). Use of an electric motor is recommended on this lake to protect the water quality. The water from this lake feeds a natural spring along the highway (water source), it is being bottled and people drink this water on a regular basis.

Driving Directions:

Travel ~65kms north of Prince George, turn right off of Hwy 97. Keep to the left at the first junction and follow the main access road. The first of three sites is located at 2km. An alternate recreation site, Emerald Lake, is open/available at 3km (keep left past Crystal Lake).

Those willing to take exploring British Columbias great outdoors to a higher level are invited to participate in the Backroad Mapbooks GeoTour. The BRMB GeoTour has highlighted some of the popular recreation sites and trails throughout the six regions of British Columbia by hiding containers (called caches) under the following outdoor themes: On The Trail, On The Road, and On The Water.
Explore BC and learn more about the outdoors while unearthing treasures.

HOW TO PLAY:

Step 1: Get the Coordinates. Enter the coordinates into your GPS using either the UTM or the Longitude and Latitude. You can also use the GPX file, Send to My GPS, or Send to My Phone functions above.

Step 2: Using the coordinates collect as many BRMB caches as you can! The hidden, water-tight containers will be clearly marked as official Backroad Mapbooks caches by different coloured themed stickers (Green for “On The Trail, Red for “On The Road”, and Blue for “On The Water”).

*Do not forget to take a sticker from each container, swap some swag, log your name and any comments on the log book inside the cache, then re-hide the cache.

You may begin your hunt at any region you choose, but to be eligible for the BRMB Regional Geocoin, you must collect all 3 stickers from the caches in the region.

Regions to explore:

Step 3: Download the sticker collection page for each region or the region you are working on collecting. Place the stickers you collected on the sticker collection page and send it in to receive the BRMB regional geocoin. (Download Sticker Collection Page For Northern BC Region)

The Backroad Mapbooks office is located at Unit 106-1500 Hartley Ave., Coquitlam, BC, V3K 7A1.

Step 4:
If you like a challenge then collect all six custom regional geocoins (18 caches to do so) and also collect the six bonus caches for a total of 24 caches and you will receive our custom BRMB 25th Anniversary Geocoin.

Note: If you’re quick, there is a “First-to-Find” special prize inside each cache container.

Special Thanks:

Special thanks to our partner Recreation Sites & Trails BC, the recreation officers and staff who helped us hide the caches across BC.
