Set out on the 55 km-long lake hike around Lake Wörthersee accompanied by no other than a creature of legend, the so-called “Wörthersee Mandl”.
The terrain is hilly and the route generally takes you through densely forested areas. Though with magnificent views of the lake and the Karawanken chain constantly revealing themselves before your eyes. Much of the trail takes you through nature conservation areas.
The very amiable mascot of this special trail is the “Wörthersee Mandl“ who, according to a legend, was actually responsible for the creation of Lake Wörthersee.
The pathway consists of four different theme legs – FIRE, EARTH, WATER, AIR – and is symbolically marked in colors associated with these elements. Info boards along the way provide fascinating insights into the region, its history, flora and fauna, legends and myths.
Along the length of this hiking trail, sun umbrellas, swings and wooden recliners located at especially beautiful points invite you to relax and soak in the scenery. You can start and interrupt your Wörthersee Lake Hike when- and wherever you wish. Very do-able since the ferry pulls in at docks around the lake. The ferry fleet on the Wörthersee promises a quick, pleasant way to return to your original starting point.
