Geocache Description:

Church Micro 4035...Melksham - Ebenezer Chapel

ebenezer

A Particular Baptist congregation was mentioned here in 1794 and in 1829 they were referred to as the Zion Meeting with the implication that there was a meeting house here. The Ebenezer Chapel was built in 1835 and additional land around the chapel was leased in 1869. In 1903 a trust for managing the the property of Ogbourne St. Andrew Particular Baptist Church was applied to the Melksham church when the one at Ogbourne closed. The church changed its doctrinal position some years ago and is now the Ebenezer Baptist Church and is still thriving; the Chapel is not easily seen as it is partially behind houses in Union Street. Above the door is a small plaque With two dates on it using the first date (Built) Call this ABCD The Cache can be found at :- N51 22.(A+C)(D-A)A W002 08.AD(B-2) Happy Hunting

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
