Piccola Casa Curiosa Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Habicurious: Hi - this cache is directly in front of my property and specific relates to my (matching) house. I developed and have managed it for a long time and it is now time to stop doing it. As a visual artist, I'm moving onto larger public art projects.

I've had a great time doing it and have had plenty of positive responses. It is not a cache that is suitable for transfering to another user as it was a personal, creative endeavour that specifically related to my interests, tastes, etc.

Thank you for the great years.

Kindest, Andrea

Geocache Description:

Hooray!!! PICCOLA CASA CURIOUSA is once again up, stocked and OPEN. Enjoy xo

NOTE: the Swing Bridge from the south side is still closed to vehicular traffic. However, there is a pedestrian bridge across the canal. Park and walk up to the cache (about 4 minutes due north) if you don't want to drive around.

**********

Quite possibly one of the most charming caches you will find! Piccola Casa Curiosa ("Curious LIttle House"), as the name suggests, is built in the shape of a teeny-tiny old house, complete with reclaimed materials.

Hidden in plain view, this cache is located on the main street of Burritt's Rapids, the oldest village on the Rideau Canal. Cyclists, motorcyclists, hikers (The Rideau Trail), and Sunday drivers favour this gorgeous route.

The cache is chock-full of interesting goodies, including original art work (photographs, lino prints), letters, items from the natural world (unusual rocks/minerals, bird nests, majic beans), books, and other fun, imaginative items. As the sign says: "To get something, you must give something away."

Pack a lunch, fishing gear, and a bathing suit, and kick back on the canal or the nearby public beach. Visit the Parks Canada Lock or walk both sides of the Tip-To-Tip Trail (easy).
