Paddlepalooza 2 Event Cache

This year, Paddlepalooza will be in MacArthur Beach State Park, 14 miles South of JDSP. The event coords are for the public canoe/kayak launch. Kayak rentals are available about 300 feet away. All activities will take place here, so no one needs to worry about staging transportation at another location.

The park opens at 8 am, the kayak rental office opens at 9 am, so we will begin at 9:30 am or there about.

There is an entrance fee to get into the park, probably somewhere around $4.00 - $7.00, depending on how many people are with you.

We will be playing a punchcard game this year. Cards will be distributed to all players, who will then have to find the punches corresponding to the shapes on the cards. The punches will be placed at various water-accessible spots within the park boundaries. Coordinates to the punches will be on the player cards. Players should expect to paddle 5 or 6 miles to find all the punches, so bring water/snacks and SPF 50 sunscreen!

High tide will be around 9 am on event day, but watch out for the sand flats and mud flats!

A personal flotation device (PFD) and a noise making device (Whistle) are Coast Guard required equipment for small watercraft. Make sure you are properly equipped. If you will be renting a kayak, these items will be provided by the rental office.
