Čeprav je Brač danes brez izvirov sladke vode, je v preteklosti po njem tekla reka Elaphusa (kasneje imenovana Bretanida). Čez sotesko, ki jo je izoblikovala, je bil v času avstrijske vladavine zgrajen kamnit most kot del ceste med vasema Ložišća in Sutivan.
Danes je most najlaže doseči iz vasi Ložišća, od koder do njega vodi urejena in označena cesta. Nedaleč od mesta v vasi Ložišća, kjer zavijete levo v smeri vasi Nerežišća, boste opazili kažipot za most Franje Josipa, ki vas usmerja levo v breg. Tam boste našli parkirišče, od koder vas do mostu loči le še 10-15 minutni sprehod. Na vseh razpotjih so postavljeni kažipoti.

There are no fresh water springs on Brač today, but once Elaphusa river (later named Bretanida) flowed here. It formed a gorge crossed by a bridge built under the Austrian rule as a part of the road connecting villages Ložišća and Sutivan.
Today the easiest way to reach the is from the village of Ložišća by following a well maintained and marked road. Not far from the crossroad in Ložišće where you turn left toward Nerežišća, you can notice a sign post for Franje Josipa bridge directing you up the hill to the left. Once you find a parking spot, there is only a 10-15 minute walk separating you from the bridge. There are signposts for the bridge at all the remaining crossroads.
