Geocache Description:

Pluto is part of the Solar System Series, but no longer classified as a Planet.

This site is the ninth in a series of geocaches hidden around Fredericton. Pluto was traditionally the last and farthest planet in the Solar system. Although it is now considered a dwarf planet, geocachers convinced me that I should place it because it is part of the Solar system and many still consider it a planet.  Each cache  represents a planet, and will contain a brief description of the planet at the correct scale distance from the Sun. Start your journey among the planets by visiting City Hall and look at the circle of water (in the summer) around the fountain.  Now imagine that our Sun was this big and Pluto was the size of a marble orbiting about 23 Kilometers away. Pluto has a bit of a weird orbit so it can vary quite a bit. Sometimes it is even closer to the Sun than Neptune, but not today ! Take a  marble and leave a space related item if you can. If you find all 9 caches in the Solar System series, congratulations. You might like to join us at the William Brydon Jack Astronomy Club for monthly updates on what is happening in the sky above.
