Story telling is a long standing tradition among the Irish. Many a yarn has been told in local public houses where stories were often accompanied by music and singing. Many villages also had what became known as a Story House, where locals would regularly meet to entertain each other through the long evenings by telling stories about the past or even what has happened in their lives.
I propose we meet to while away the evening of August 24th in The House of Stories which is located just outside the village of Oulart, about 20 minutes north of the town of Wexford. Starting at 8pm (NOTE: this is an hour later than previously advertised), who knows how the hours will creep past us while we tell stories of our exploits - be they Geocaching or otherwise?
The House of Stories
Some among our number will have walked the six mile organised 1798 herritage walk that marks the Battle of Oulart Hill, starting from The Trading Post camp site at 9am the same morning and may have a yarn or two to spin about that walk - a route which actually passes The House of Stories.
Plans are early at the moment, but we may also have local historians, story tellers and musicians join us for what I think would be a very memorable evening for all who attend.
Please, bring along a story of your own to tell. Or if you're a musician, consider bringing your instrument with you (trad, or mod). This is to be a family friendly event. People are encouraged to bring their own refreshments for the evening as at the moment none are provided (but that may change).
There is also a camping event that takes place in a nearby camp site the evening before and there will be around 15 are 17 new caches placed along the route of the memorial walk.
I will add and amend details to this page as they become known. I look forward to meeting y'all and hearing all your interesting tales...
