This cache is located near Tulip 8.

Tulip is the term used to describe the representation of road directions and route to be travelled in a Co-Drivers road book, so that they are able to advise the driver of what to expect on the road ahead. In a special stage a little red arrow is placed at the side of the track approaching a Tulip where there may be a tight turn or several possible options for road choice.

This was also where the finish control was for Special Stage 1 and there was an increased vigilance required her to ensure competitors finishing Stage 1 did not enter Stage 2 at this point.

This Tulip was also the site of a Manned Road Closure (MRC) where an official was placed to ensure the integrity and safety of the stage, preventing unauthorised access from the side road.

This is one of a series of caches that highlights the route of the infamous Mineshaft stage that was used for the 2013 National Capital Rally, which was also round 1 of the Australian Rally Championship. This was a return of the ARC to the forests of Canberra after a 5 year absence to celebrate Canberra’s 100th Birthday.

This stage was Special Stage 2 and was run on the 2nd March and had a competitive distance of 16.03kms. As it turned out it was quite an eventful stage with 2 major crashes occurring. The first was Welsh driver Elfyn Evans who came unstuck about 10kms into the stage. An interview containing footage of the crash can be found at Evans Rollover.

Later in the day a Bathurst driver, Leigh Gotch came unstuck on the infamous Mineshaft about, 13.41kms into the stage. Footage of his traverse of the Mineshaft is at Gotch Rollover.

Jusojara, Diamantina Stars, Delta Response Team and Buzz701 were present and assisted with hiding this cache and will log a find once the First To Find after publication has logged their find.
