Geocache Description:

Welcome to a National Historic Landmark. Please do not park in the driveway.  Security frowns upon it; night or day. Not inside the fence. Cache is outside on pedestrian sidewalk.

Greenwood Cemetery is known for its architecture, historic tenants, and as the battlefield in defense of our young nation in 1776. Along with Prospect Park; these rolling hills and landscape were a strategic position in our fight for independence.

This neighborhood is known as Sunset Park. It will always be Sunset Park to me. Due to realtor's ingenuity and stigmatism of past history; cookie cutters are trying to create a new name for where they live. It comes from the inclined slope of the streets and Greenwood Cemetery as a neighbor at the top. Hence Greenwood Heights. Trend-followers are trying to spread out from Park Slope and Windsor Terrace; therefore, builders and realtors are satisfying the demand. Greenwood Heights is priced for those that want to live near Park Slope's amenities but not pay their rents or mortgages. So Sunset Park is changing and for some; it is getting smaller by losing the section wrapping around north and west of Greenwood Cemetery.

While you are here; look into taking available guided walking or trolley tours. You can also just stroll on your own through the landscaped beauty. There are also two very well thought out caches that initially bring you inside the cemetery and then towards the final GZ nearby. One is a puzzle by Schbus86 and the other a Multi by Alan2. Both are highly recommended for everyone involved in caching.

Sale of the McGovern Florist Building Now Official. Take a peek across the street at another historical landmark. Greenwood has bought the former florist's greenhouse structure to renovate and use as a tourist and visitor's center.
