Geocache Description:

ENGLISH

An oasis of green in the burnt part of Parnitha.
The church survived the devastating fire of 2007 in Parnitha, along with the trees that surrounded it.
Under the shade of the trees it is formed a recreation area where you can relax. The only thing that might disturb your "peace" is the sound of the running water of "Neraidopigi" (Source of the fairy).

For accessing the church you can follow the famous hiking trail that begins near the base of the cable car of Parnitha and goes parallel with the homonymous stream.
Alternatively you can follow the first dirt road (N38 08.139 E023 43.705) that you cross after the base of the cable car towards the summit and is closed for vehicles with a bar.
On this route you can combine the caches: Parnitha Biker I (GCRY12) and Parnitha Biker II (GCRY15).

From the dirt road it is estimated around 2 hours of trekking (6Kml) to get to St. George church.

Of course I prefer the ascent of the dirt road with my mountain bike and sometimes I descent carefully from the hiking trail.

The cache
The cache is a small cylindrical tube which initially contains logbook, geocaching declaration in Greek and English and some small items for exchange.

ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ

Μία όαση πρασίνου μέσα στο καμένο κομμάτι της Πάρνηθας.
Το εκκλησάκι σώθηκε από την καταστροφική φωτιά του 2007 στην Πάρνηθα, μαζί με τα δέντρα που το περιέβαλαν.
Στην σκιά των δέντρων έχει διαμορφωθεί χώρος αναψυχής στον οποίο μπορείτε να ξεκουραστείτε. Το μόνο που θα διαταράξει την ησυχία σας θα είναι ο ήχος από το τρεχούμενο νερό της "Νεραϊδοπηγής".
Για την πρόσβαση του μπορείτε να ακολουθήσετε το γνωστό πεζοπορικό μονοπάτι που ξεκινάει κοντά στην βάση του τελεφερίκ της Πάρνηθας και ακολουθεί το ομώνυμο ρέμα.
Εναλλακτικά μπορείτε να ακολουθήσετε τον πρώτο δασικό δρόμο (N38 08.139 E023 43.705) που θα συναντήσετε μετά τη βάση του τελεφερίκ με κατεύθυνση προς την κορυφή και είναι κλειστός για το οχήματα με μπάρα.
Από την συγκεκριμένη διαδρομή μπορείτε να συνδυάσετε τις κρύπτες Parnitha Biker I (GCRY12) και Parnitha Biker II (GCRY15).
Από τον δασικό υπολογίζεται γύρω στις 2 ώρες πεζοπορίας (περίπου 6χλμ) για να φτάσετε στον Αη Γιώργη.
Φυσικά εγώ προτιμώ την ανάβαση του δασικού με το ποδήλατο μου και ενίοτε προσεκτική κατάβαση από το πεζοπορικό μονοπάτι.

Η ΚΡΥΠΤΗ
Η κρύπτη είναι ένας μικρός κυλινδρικός σωλήνας που αρχικά περιέχει logbook , geocaching declaration στα ελληνικά και στα Αγγλικά και μερικά μικρά αντικείμενα για ανταλλαγή.
