Steeperton Brook is a tributary of the River Taw and has its head below Hangingstone Hill a kilometre to the south of the cache. This is a delightful spot as the stream tumbles down between rocks below Steeperton Tor. The OS map indicates both a blowing house and a tinners hut at this point on the stream, but I could only see the very well preserved remains of the tinners hut.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This cache is located in the Okehampton Military Range where live firing occurs. You must check out the Firing Notices before entering the range. DO NOT ENTER THE RANGE WHEN THE RED FLAGS ARE FLYING. Never pick up any objects, they may be unexploded devices.
