The Mysterious Window
In Florence in Piazza della Santissima Annunziata there are several important buildings. The church of the Santissima Annunziata (Most Holy Annunciation) gives its name to the square. The present building has been erected in 1481 replacing an old church present from 1250, the facade has been finished in 1601, inside there are masterpieces of Andrea del Sarto, Pontormo, Franciabigio and many other, Benvenuto Cellini is buried here. On the right of the square, looking at the church, there is the Ospedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents) odl recovery of the abandoned children, it is still visible the place in which the horizontal wheel in which the babies were left, closed in 1875. The building was made by Filippo Brunelleschi, and its Loggia was the inspiration for the future buildings in the Renaissance. Nice blue terracotta roundels with reliefs of babies designed by Andrea della Robbia are placed in the spandrels of the arches. In front of the Hospital there is the Loggia dei Servi di Maria, more recent, now there is an hotel inside. But it is the fourth building of the square, at the number 1, that captures our attention: it is the Palace Budini-Gattai built-up in 1574 by Bartolommeo Ammannati first property of the Grifoni family. What does this building have so interesting? If you look at the windows of the palace, you will see that the last window at the top of the second floor on the right is never closed at all. Why? The legend tells that the young wife of a Grifoni lived in the room at the second floor and used to sit near the window waiting for the return of his husband who went off to war. Unfortunately the man never come back, his wife didn't want to move from that room and remained there until her death, always hoping in the return. When people came to take away her body and tried to close the window, the objects in the room were sucked up into a whirlwind, the doors started slamming, books flew through the air and paintings crashed to the floor. From then on no one was ever able to shut that window.
La Finestra Misteriosa
A Firenze in Piazza della Santissima Annunziata ci sono diversi importanti monumenti. La Chiesa della Santissima Annunziata dà il suo nome alla piazza. L'edificio fu eretto nel 1481 al posto di una precedente chiesa presente dal 1250, la facciata è stata finita nel 1601, all'interno ci sono opere d'arte di Andrea del Sarto, Pontormo, Franciabigio e molti altri. Benvenuto Cellini è sepolto qui. A destra della piazza, guardando la chiesa, c'è l'Ospedale degli Innocenti dove venivano abbandonati i trovatelli, è ancora visibile il posto dove era posizionata la ruota orizzontale dove venivano lasciati i bambini, questo fino al 1875. L'edificio è opera di Filippo Brunelleschi e la Loggia è stata l'ispirazione di edifici simili nel Rinascimento. Formelle rotonde di terracotta blu, opera di Andrea della Robbia, sono poste in alto tra gli archi. Di fronte all'Ospedale c'è la Loggia dei Servi di Maria, più recente, ora sede di un hotel. Ma è il quarto edificio della piazza, al numero 1, che cattura la nostra attenzione: è il Palazzo Budini-Gattai, costruito nel 1574 da Bartolommeo Ammannati per la famiglia Grifoni. Che cos'ha di interessante questo edificio? Se guardate le finestre del palazzo vedrete che l'ultima finestra a destra del secondo piano non è mai completamente chiusa. Perché? La leggenda narra che la giovane moglie di un Grifoni viveva in quella stanza al secondo piano e soleva sedere alla finestra aspettando il marito che era andato in guerra. Sfortunatamente l'uomo non fece mai ritorno e sua moglie non volle mai muoversi da quella stanza e rimase lì fino alla morte sperando nel ritorno. Quando vennero per portare via il corpo e tentarono di chiudere la finestra successe il finimondo: gli oggetti volarono in vortice nella stanza, sbatterono le porte, libri volavano e i quadri cadevano a terra. Da allora nessuno è stato più capace di chiudere quella finestra.

Now about the cache: at the given coordinates there is the equestrian statue of the Grand-Duke Ferdinando I dei Medici, made by Pietro Tacca in 1608, in the basement below the motto “MAIESTATE TANTUM” there is a queen bee representing the grand-duke and several bees around. You task is to count all the bees (including the queen), the sum will give you X.
