Please write an interesting log, not just TFTC or a cut and paste - I enjoy reading about your visit and it's very boring to get dull logs. Be inventive!
Ilex aquifolium contains several toxins: saponin, phenolic compounds, terpenoides, sterols, alkaloids and anthocyanines. Ingestion of berries may cause stupor, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea.
What is this horror?
Christmas favourite, Holly.
Synonymous with winter since the Roman festival of Saturnalia, Holly is an ancient fertility symbol and thought to protect a house from witchcraft and goblins. Considered unlucky to cut down, yet it's encouraged to cut branches to bring inside the house at at Christmas having been adopted by Christians - some contradictions surround this ancient tree.
"Aquifolium" translates from the latin as "wet leaves".
