Geocache Description:

An unusual ruin in the woods. Please write an interesting log, not just TFTC or a cut and paste - I enjoy reading about your visit and it's very boring to get dull logs. Be inventive!

Shown on the map only as "Mardon", this is a curious ruined farmbuilding which at one time would have stood at the bottom of a stone walled lane overlooking sheep-grazed fields down to the Trenchford Stream in the shallow valley below. The round addition is most likely an ash house, by the way.

Now planted with conifers, and the valley flooded with Trenchford resorvoir since 1908, this view has changed somewhat.

(Note: Ruin now fenced off, possibly because of its dangerous state, and it is not recommended that you enter) Permission granted by SWLakes Trust
