Eenmaal aangestoken door het geocache 'virus' werd het tijd voor een eigen cache.
Dicht bij huis in een fraaie omgeving voor een wandeling door een architectonisch boeiend stukje Amsterdam.
De cache is gemakkelijk bereikbaar, maar ook 'zichtbaar' voor (kleine) muggles 
Doordeweeks kan het druk zijn met jeugd uit de school ertegenover.
Even wachten tot de stoet voorbij is kan dan geen kwaad, of is een must 
Helaas is de camouflage al eens gestolen en meermalen vernield. Daarom ligt hij aan de ketting. Na het sluiten de ketting in het midden oprollen s.v.p.

Belangrijk: Log in geval van het meenemen/plaatsen van een Trackable deze ook op de voorgeschreven wijze. Dit voorkomt teleurstelling bij cachers op zoek naar de TB én bij de eigenaar van de TB. Bvd.

Caught by the geocaching 'virus' it became time to place our own cache.
Close to our home in a nice surrounding, suitable for a walk through an architectonic interesting part of Amsterdam.
The cache is easy to reach, but also 'visible' for (little) muggles
On weekdays it can be busy with kids from the school across the street.
Waiting a little while for them to pass won't hurt, or is even necessary
Unfortunately its camouflage has ones been stolen and damaged several times. Therefor it is chained. After closing roll up the chain in the middle please.

What gave this cache its name, a little history
Dit deel van Amsterdam-Oost is niet altijd bewoond geweest. Lange tijd was hier niets anders dan moeras, begroeid met riet: de Rietlanden.
This part of Amsterdam-East hasn't always been inhabited. For a long time this was swamp, covered with reed: the Rietlanden
Eind 19de eeuw is hier het Oostelijk havengebied uitgebreid als gevolg van de aanleg van een spoorlijn en het Centraal Station. Alles ten behoeve van de handel met Indië.
Begin 20e eeuw wordt hier ook het Lloyd Hotel gebouwd (1918) ten behoeve van de vele passagiersschepen die vertrekken naar het Oosten waaronder met name Nederlands-Indië.
Eind van die eeuw heeft dit gebied zijn functie als haven al ruimschoots verloren en wordt het omgevormd tot moderne woonwijk. Gelukkig zijn diverse oude gebouwen bewaard gebleven waaronder het Lloyd Hotel dat momenteel weer als hotel in gebruik is.
At the end of the 19th century the Eastern Docklands expanded as a result of build of the Central Station and the railways. All in favor of the trade with the Indies.
In the early 20the century the Lloyd Hotel was built (1918) to serve the passengers leaving for the far East under which the Dutch East Indies.
At the end of that same century this area was already no longer a busy dockland and was to be turned in a modern residential. Luckily, some old buildings have been preserved, among them the Lloyd Hotel which is a hotel again.
