Geocache Description:

A scenic walk around Black Head

This cache is located in the lovely Caher Valley and can be found as an individual park and grab or as part of a scenic walk around Black Head.

The walk is a loop of 18km, with an elevation change of ca. 400m. We would recommend starting at the parking area waypoint BHP1 although there are alternative parking areas. It should take approximately 5 hours plus any time you want to spend for lunch, taking photos and finding caches along the route.

This loop is a combination of sections from 3 official waymarked walking trails Black Head Loop, Caher Valley Loop and The Burren Way. The terrain is a mixture of road, green lanes and cross country. The usual gear applies - sturdy walking boots, waterproofs, rucksack, fluid, snacks, mobile phone. To download the GPX file of the route click here. The attributes of the caches on this walk apply to the individual caches and do not reflect the attributes of the scenic walk.

Please respect the Burren Code. There is no need to cross dry stone walls. Use the gates and stiles provided.

If you are doing the scenic walk you're next stop will be Black Head #2 - Caher Bridge.

We hope you enjoy the walk and are successful with all the caches along the route :-)
