1st Dengie Geo-Poker Run Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bean & Sprout: A big thank you to everyone who came to this. I hope you all had fun; judging by your logs and comments at the campsite I think most did, even if there were a few grumbles about puzzles being a littlle too taxing for some (naming no names, hehe!) It was always my intention to get you getting together to crack them and that seems to have happened, both at the pub and at the campsite, and most seem to have tracked them down eventually too which was good to see [:)]

I really appreciate those who took the time to make individual logs for each cache, or even just one or two in particular, and also to those that shared their story of the day in their logs. As I was mostly tied to the gazebo it was great to read these afterwards and helped give me an insight into the days for you. I still chuckle when I read the joker cache logs especially (next best thing to being a fly on the wall), so thank you for those and the favourite marks too which are always greatly appreciated.

There will be a second one at some point (tentative plans already being made), but I'm not sure exactly when as it takes quite a bit of time and money, not to mention planning, to run an event like this. It's worth it to see everyone enjoying themselves though. So I look forward to seeing you at the next, whenever it might be!

Happy caching [:)]

Geocache Description:

Welcome to the 1st Dengie Geo-Poker Run!

This event is open to all cachers and is part of the
2013 Essex Camping Event GC460X5

Check in will begin at 9am on Saturday 22nd June at the campsite. No further entries will be taken after 11am so please do not be late if you intend to play.

Upon registering, you will receive instructions on how to obtain your "Official Geo-Poker Run Coordinates Sheet", which will also contain some of the instructions and rules.

IMPORTANT: This is NOT a Race!
There is no bonus awarded for time and safety should be your priority!

This event is open to everyone - Whether you are participating in the Poker Run or there to cheer others on, we'd love to see you there!

You should be able to drive/park close to all the geo poker caches in a family size vehicle.

Some Details About the Geo-Poker Run.
All players must pre-register by posting a “will attend" note on the cache event page before the event day. Please indicate if you are playing as a team or as individuals (and please state how many individuals will be playing in your will attend log).

There is NO limit to how many teams/individuals can play. (But there is only ONE winner, each individual or team player must play their own hand.)

In order to cover some of the running costs of the event I am asking for a donation of £2.00 per individual or team. The donation will go towards the prizes for the poker run and also the games and activities which will be going on during the afternoon back at the campsite.

There are lots of fun and games planned back at the campsite which you can join in with starting at 2pm. More details of these will follow shortly.

I will start accepting hands from 2pm until 4pm. This gives you 2 hours to get your hand in and counted. Be sure to get there early if you want to take part in the fun and games too.

You will need to finish caching and return to the registration table by 4pm at the very latest with your cards. If you are late returning your cards, your hand could be disqualified from the game so please don't be late.

There is plenty of fun to be had during the event and plenty of caches already in the area. There will also be a few new caches published for the event. Details of these will be given out when you register and joint FTF can be claimed by anyone taking part in the poker run.
You do not have to participate in the poker run to attend the event!

POKER RUN - This is a family oriented activity that requires you or your team to seek out five different containers. (You will be given the coords to each container at registration.) From each container you will take one envelope containing an ordinary playing card and return them (unopened) to the registration table where I will open them and tell you what your poker hand is. The team with the best poker hand by the deadline (4.00pm Saturday afternoon) will win a prize.
