Geocache Description:

Neat Covered Bridge--Now a Microcache

This site has easy access from the freeway in either direction. Use the GPS to tell you which exit to take. Originally a Virtual cache, I've turned it into a Microcache or Virtual. You get credit solving it either way. The microcache is a 35 mm film canister and was placed on location: June 24, 2002.

The coordinates will place you in front of a sign telling the story of the Covered Bridge and Applegate Trail. If you solve this as a virutal, you need to email me the cost to build the bridge which can be found in the display area. Otherwise, I will remove your log after seven days.

Nearby is the neat interpretive center with more being learned at: www.rogueweb.com/intepretive

If you solve it as a Microcache, the above coordinates will only place you in the area. You'll have to follow the clues to bring you closer to the cache. The clues are:

  • Sunny Valley makes me toasty in the morning
  • I'm on the third leg of two overlapping Isosceles triangles
  • One meter reaches shoe leather

Some areas that it won't be at:

  • Since this is Rattlesnake country, I didn't place it where you have to turn over logs and rocks. Its not on the earth or under rocks that immediately sit on earth.
  • You don't need to climb on anything that could be a hazard.

This should be a fairly easy cache. The microcache is completely out of view. If people have trouble, I'll change the clues. Please put the container back where you found it. Their is only a one page log and no pencil. Bring your own. You can easily be watched when you remove or replace the cache. Please be descrete. The site can support a larger cache box if those that find it would like to replace the canister with something larger. A band Aid can or Altoids box would work. When you log on www.geocache.com, mention if you found the microcache.

This is a great stop if you enjoy 19th century western history. The Applegate trail was an alternate to the Oregon Trail and believed safer.

Their are no restrooms at the bridge but you can find facilities at the Interpretive center or near the freeway interchange. Food and gas are also available. Have fun!
