Geocache Description:

This cache was originally placed in 2013 as part of the Washington State Parks Centennial GeoTour - "100 caches in 100 parks to celebrate 100 years" - cosponsored by Washington State Geocaching Association (WSGA).

Palouse Falls State Park is a 105-acre park that offers excellent views of the 198 foot high falls and the canyon below the falls which is almost 400 foot deep. The park also offers camping with 10 tent spaces available.

Before the Ice Age Floods, the ancestral Palouse River flowed down Washtucna Coulee before turning south and flowing south down Esquatzel Coulee (along Highway 395) to the Tri-Cities to join the Columbia River. The Ice Age Floods eroded through the Palouse-Snake River divide to the north and established the current course of the river.

The cache is a regular container hidden about 10 feet off of one of the trails under a sagebrush. In the summer months this park can be very busy. Please rehide the cache well so that it will last.

Park hours:
Year-round day use.
Summer: 6:30AM until dusk.
Winter: 8:00AM until dusk.
