VS#8 Bovingdon Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Hanoosh: Having made two requests and received no response or update from the CO, it is with regret, bearing in mind this is an old "VS", that I have no option but to archive this cache.

Geocache Description:

Village signs is a new series of caches based on the ornate signs that depict the heritage, history and culture of the villages that put them up (normally on the village green!).

The signs can be made of different materials from fibreglass to wood, from forged steel to stone. They can depict anything from local industry to historical events. The tradition probably stated in Norfolk or Suffolk and has now spread across most of the country so we thought we would base a series on them!

The name is first mentioned in deeds from 1200 as Bovyndon. It could originate from Old English Bufan dune meaning "above the down" or from Bofa's down, the down belonging to Bofa.

There are two churches in the village. The Baptist Church and the Anglican Church. The Baptist church started as a Wesleyan Methodist Church and changed to Baptist. St Lawrence Church was built in 1845 by Talbot Bury. The churchyard is the second largest in Hertfordshire and includes an avenue of clipped yew trees. This is the church depicted in the sign.

Some famous residents inculde: Goldie, David Seaman, Tony Nash and our very own Mrs Smokeypugs's relatives!

This is a puzzle cache and depending on how good you are with maths dictates how hard it can be and also weather you could figure it at home or not! The picture has some numbers missing just do the following algbra (its not hard honest!)

N51 43.[(A+C)X2] [(A+B)/2] [D+A]
W000 32.DBC

Your looking for a nano type cache. Happy Caching!

If anybody would like to expand this series please do. I would just ask that you let SmokeyPugs know first so they can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication.
