Geocache Description:

The idea of this cache is to collect the coordinates and information for any old mills. Mills that are still functioning are also allowed.

NOTE: Mills that qualify for this cache must be the type that use flowing water to provide power (i.e. have or had some type of water wheel).

Whenever I go on a hike, I always enjoy exploring ruins of old mills that I come across. After finding yet another old mill ruin on my recent geocache placement, I started wondering just how common old mill ruins are. This gave me an idea for the new virtual geocache you are looking at.

When you log your find, please include the coordinates of your old mill ruins, the name of the mill (if known), and of course a picture (with your team) of the mill if possible. The mill that I found at cache coordinates N43°39.423 W079°53.655 is located on the north side of the Credit river at Georgetown (I will try to get a picture of it). This ruin is an old dynamo structure that provided power to the Barber Paper Mill, located two miles distant. Please, only one log per geocacher and the first one to a mill gets to log it.

I know of several mill ruins within 30km of my house, but I am only 'logging' this one at the cache coordinates to give other geocachers in the area a chance.

Get out there and mill around!
