Utah's oldest Multi-cache
3th oldest active cache in Utah County
Note from JeeperDad:
This was my first hiking Cache less then a month after I started
Geocaching . I loved the view. I was up here early on a Summer
morning. I have even uploaded a picture I took that day. It was one
of the caches that helped me really get into geocaching. So when
Denali's CLiff cache disappeared in the spring of 2003 and after I
contacted Mononoke and found he was too busy to maintain it, he
graciously allowed me to adopt it.
I've replaced the original Vinegar jar with an Ammo Can. It has
a new log, and trade items (no theme, just items). It's in the same
place as the original. I also put a micro cache with the UTM coords
where the Denali's Cliff cache used to be. Please rehid the
Micro well so it can't be seen or roll off.
Since the micro will be a little harder to find, I've changed
the rating. I also have added two spoiler pictures for the mini
cache for anyone who may want them.
Spoiler 1
Original Post by Mononoke:
You have to go to Denali's Cliff first to find it because the
actual coordinates for UTM are written on a yellow piece of paper
at Denali's Cliff. They are in UTM coordinates (surprised?), so
you'll need to know how to switch your GPS to UTM.
The theme for the cache is UTM--items that begin with "U",
"T" or "M". The initial inventory is:
- Utah Narcotics Officers Association pin (from
Denali's Cliff--thanks, I needed a "U").
- Thread
- Mark (as in "Deutchmark"--actually just 2
pfennig--not worth looting if you're only in it for the
money!)
Note:Interestingly enough the thread and the 2 pfennig were
still in the original cache container. I didn't know that until I
got down, or I would have left them in the replacement cache.
Oh, by the way, you get a great view of Utah lake and a lot
of the valley.
