This cache is a PET box, hidden behind the monument of yet another unsung hero of our time.

Pilot Officer Vasileios Filippou is a name that won't return any google results.
If you search the news of August 2007 you won't find any references, you won't read his story.

Vasileios Filippou was an airforce officer that gave his life fighting a fire in Kalyvia Attikis, on 25 August 2007. He suffered extensive burns and died 10 days later. This cache is dedicated to his memory.

On 15 February 2008, he was awarded the medal of exquisite acts, posthumously.

Ο Βασίλειος Φιλίππου, Αξιωματικός της ΠΑ, έδωσε τη ζωή του πολεμώντας τις φλόγες στα Καλύβια, στις 25 Αυγούστου του 2007. Υπέστη βαριά εγκαύματα και άφησε την τελευταία του πνοή 10 ημέρες μετά. Αυτή η κρύπτη είναι αφιερωμένη στη μνήμη του.

Στις 15 Φεβρουαρίου 2008 στην Αεροπορική Βάση της Τανάγρας (114 ΠΜ) έγινε η τελετή απονομής του Μεταλλίου Εξόχου Πράξεως από τον κ. Α/ΓΕΑ Αντιπτέραρχο (Ι) Ιωάννη Γιάγκο, στη σύζυγο του θανόντος Ανθυποσμηναγού.
