Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Washington State Parks 100 Year Kickoff Event

WHEN: Saturday, June 8, 2013
11:00 a.m.

WHERE: Riverside State Park
Bowl and Pitcher

WHAT: "100 caches in 100 parks to celebrate 100 years"

2013 is the 100th anniversary of Washington State Parks, and as part of the celebration, WSGA and Washington State Parks are cohosting the Washington State Parks Centennial GeoTour, a statewide challenge featuring 100 new caches placed on 100 State Park properties, with a commemorative geocoin for finding 50 caches (silver coin) and 100 caches (gold coin).

The GeoTour launches on June 7, and you can find out more about it at this kickoff event, plus pick up your passport and see the prize coin. Also, June 8-9 are free days at the State Parks for National Get Outdoors Day, so you don't need a Discover Pass to attend (but you will need one later to find GeoTour caches).

The Inland Empire event kick-off event will be at 11:00 a.m. at the WSGA table in Riverside State Park (Bowl and Pitcher area) for a meet and greet. At that time we will be handing out the GeoTour guides, passport books for the Washington State Parks Centennial GeoTour, cache maps and Discover Pass information. You will also have a chance to see a GeoTour coin.

PARK OVERVIEW: Riverside State Park is a 10,000-acre camping park along the Spokane and Little Spokane rivers in Eastern Washington. The park supports a wide variety of recreational activities and is rich in history. Freshwater marshes, running rivers and beautiful countryside make up the terrain. The park also includes the Nine Mile Recreation Area, which is available for camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing and boating.

Please note: June 8th is a State Parks free day in recognition of National Get Outdoors Day. The Discover Pass is NOT required for vehicle access to Riverside State Park for this event.

We will have a WSGA table opened from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and are in need of local cachers who would be willing to work one hour time slots to make this happen. If you are willing to sit at the WSGA table and help answer geo-caching related questions, please post your time preference in your "Will Attend" log. We will try to keep an updated schedule on this listing so everyone can see what time slots are open.
