Geocache Description:

The weather is starting to play nice again. Time for a Second Annual CITO event to help clean up the environment we love so much! Without these Open Spaces, where would we hide our caches? In lamp posts??? The First Annual CITO was a great success. Let's make this one even better!

Time to do some clean up at Columbine Open Space again.

We'll be working with Open Space Volunteers to help the native vegetation and wildlife by:
~ Removing litter in the area
~ Removing invasive plant species (Mullein and Knapweeds) along the trail

WHEN?
May 24th from 9am-12pm
We will eat lunch at noon, and if needed, continue for another hour tops.

WHAT IS PROVIDED?
Columbine Open Space will provide:
Trash Bags
Snacks
Lunch

GCCO will provide:
Water and Soda
Silver 2013 Geocoins for sale ($10)
GOLD 2013 for FREE drawing

CoinsAndPins will provide:
Some FREE raffle goodies, thanks!

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING?
Yourself, ready to work!
Gloves
Extra snacks or water (if needed)
Shovel/Weed tools, if you have any extra, that would help!
Dress appropriately for the weather, as we will work in the rain if necessary.

Waivers will also need to be signed and will be provided on site. Any minors will need a waiver signed by parent or guardian as well. Please RSVP so we can plan work assignments, tools, snacks/lunch.

Many hands make light work! Yes, it is on a Friday, but this is the best time for the Open Space volunteers to join us and provide us with everything. Also, GCCO is sponsoring this Event and there will be a 2013 GOLD GCCO COIN in a FREE drawing for those who come and work their fingers to the bone. Okay, maybe not that much... but you do gotta CITO!

GCCO

Last year was a great success!

"Please let all of your fantastic geocaching volunteers know how much we appreciate the work that they did for Douglas County Open Space last Friday. All 38 bags-worth of trash no longer litter the front of the property, and hundreds of mullein heads and other weeds will be absent along the Columbine Open Space trail. The volunteers were wonderful to give back a day of service to the public lands they enjoy! Cheers!"
