The Inguri Dam
The Cache is located near the Inguri Dam at the road between Zugdidi and Mestia. The Inguri Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Inguri River in Upper Svanetia, Georgia. Currently it is the world's second highest concrete arch dam with a height of 272 metres (892 ft). It is located north of the town Jvari. It is part of the Inguri hydroelectric power station (HES) which is partially located in the partially recognised Abkhazia.
The dam is located on the side of the Tbilisi administrated Territory (TAT), while the power plant located on Abkhazian side. According to the agreement between Georgia and Abkhazia, TAT receives 60% of produced electricity, while 40% is consumed in Abkhazia and in Southern part of Russia.
This infrastructure is of TYPE Hydro Power Plant with a design capacity of 1300 MWe. It has 5 unit(s). The first unit was commissioned in 1978 and the last in 1978. It is operated by Georgian company Enguri Ltd and Abkhazian state-owned Chernomorenergo. From the cachelocation you have a beautiful view at the northern Kaukasus and 10m far at the dam.
