Flying ACES: Air Mail hidden by: The Waysiders
The first official air mail delivery in the U.S. was carried by hot air balloon. Later, air mail revenue helped spur the development of commercial aviation. By the 1930's, a letter sent by air mail could travel from New York to San Francisco in under thirty hours. This two-stage letterbox hybrid honors the flying aces who moved the mail.
This geocache was placed in preparation for the Going Caching 2013 Mega-Event at FDR State Park. We hope you enjoy hiking and caching in Georgia's largest State Park. Please sign the log book and rehide the container in the same location as you found it. If you take something from the geocache, leave something of equal or greater value.
- This geocache was placed with the permission of the Park Manager
- Park hours are 7am-10pm. A $5 daily park pass is required for each vehicle entering FDR State Park.
- While visiting any Georgia State Park, please obey all park rules and remain on the marked trails as you make your way to find the geocaches.
- Pets are welcome but must be on a 6' leash at all times. Please be a good pet owner and clean up after your pet.
