Geocache Description:

The ancient church of St Mary and St Radigund

The given co-ordinates at the head of this page will take you to a sundial in the churchyard where you can obtain the answers to the questions below.

“The nineteenth of the Calends of September on the day of St. Eusebius, Confessor, this Church was dedicated in honour of Blessed Mary, Mother of God”.

The original dedication stone, inscribed in Latin, can be found on the chancel wall.  It is thought that it is pre-Norman, dating back to the time of Edward the Confessor, 1042-1066.  At our time of visiting the church was unlocked to allow visitors to enter. The church is in regular use and is teamed with the glorious, historical churches in Lyminge, Paddlesworth, and Stanford.

The village of Postling can be reached from the B2068, off J11 of the M20, Canterbury direction.  This quiet, pretty little village is on a single track lane that loops around the village, shielding it from through traffic. It is the source of the River Stour. There is a footpath nearby that connects to the North Downs Way and offers you an opportunity to add your name to several excellent caches.
It is worth the uphill walk to experience the stunning view from the top of the downs. The footpath takes you to Farthing Corner, another cache site with a rewarding view.

The road outside the church is quite narrow for long term parking. It is possible to park but please do not obstruct the gateway to the churchyard. When you have worked out the co-ordinates, there is room to park your vehicle on the soft verge near to the cache. You are seeking a 35mm film pot in a camouflage bag.
You may need to wear gloves to avoid being stung by nettles whilst searching.
Please take care to replace it exactly where you find it, ensuring that it cannot be seen by passing muggles or from the other side of the fence. Re-close the Velcro top to the bag to keep the contents clean and dry. Thank you.
*Please bring your own pen*

The cache is hidden at ground level, approximately 150 metres away from the churchyard at the following co-ordinates:
   N51° 0A.BC9  E001° 03.DEF
