Geocache Description:

The Conservancy of Southwest Florida was founded in 1964 by a small group of citizens fighting to protect the beauty of Southwest Florida. Today it has grown to be one of Florida's largest and most respected environmental organizations with a mission to protect Southwest Florida's unique natural environment and quality of life.  This is one of Southwest Florida's best nature education centers and combination of types of natural areas.  This is where you bring injured wildlife and where you can come to learn about Florida's ecosystems.

Currently the Conservancy is almost complete with a multi-year, full campus green renovation including such elements as natural filter marsh areas, LEED designed and constructed buildings and a large gopher tortoise preserve.  If you come while they are open, come see the birds they are rehabbing in the wildlife clinic or the amazing displays and wildlife lessons in the Discovery Center or even down to the electric boats on the river.  If you come when they are closed... shhhhhhh

This cache is a micro accessible 24/7 (outside the gates) on the new entry bridge over the tortoise preserve... keep your eyes peeled for grey foxes, any number of birds, and of course, gopher tortoises.

~ Congrats to Stranded Sleuths on the Earth Day & Conservancy Grand Reopening weekend FTF! ~
