Geocache Description:

Oke Tor has several stacks, and is found on Northern Dartmoor, near East Mill and Steeperton Tors, and on the same ridge of granite as the Belstone Tors further north.

It is used as a manned tor during the annual Ten Tors event for South West youngsters, replacing East Mill Tor after it was removed recently due to bird nesting fears.

Oke Tor has a few substantial piles, including a range lookout. The views down the Taw Valley between Cosdon Beacon and Belstone Tors are superb.

The cache is a container with a 35mm film canister containing the log.

It is possible to walk to this one along relatively good military roads and tracks. "Oke Tor Road" branches off the main military "ring road" and crosses a boggy area before stopping a couple of hundred metres short of the top, from where a decent path can be followed.

The nearest parking is to be found is near OP22 on the military road onto the moor before access is restricted, and there are decent military tracks to bottom of the tor.

Please Note: This is a Military Training Area on which live firing and other pyrotechnics may be used. The area is generally open public access. One of the safety rules for public access is:- Do not, (and ensure that children do not) approach, touch or pick up any metal objects lying on the ground. Please obey all byelaws and locally posted information concerning times when the area may be closed. These may be physical barriers, flags or lights.
