This cache was originally placed in 2013 as part of the Washington State Parks Centennial GeoTour - "100 caches in 100 parks to celebrate 100 years" - cosponsored by Washington State Geocaching Association (WSGA).
Joseph Whidbey State Park is a 112-acre day-use park with 3,100 feet of saltwater shoreline on the Strait of Juan De Fuca in northern Puget Sound. The scenery is beautiful, views are magnificent, wildlife is everywhere and the beach is one of the grandest on Whidbey Island. Trail maps can be found here.
Park hours: Summer: 8 a.m. to dusk. Winter: Closed Oct. 1, reopens April 1. Note: During winter months the park can still be accessed via parking waypoints
The cache can ONLY be accessed by using the beach trail! It might be enticing to try another trail that appears closer but it will only lead you to wetlands with no access to the beach.
