Geocache Description:

A short multi cache.

Cache is a small pot a bit larger than a micro containing log only and £1 for FTF.

The Church of St Mary Magdalene was originally the parish church of Sparkford but the parish is now combined with both those of Weston Bampfield and Sutton Montis and together with Corton Denham,Queen Camel and West Camel form the Camvale group of parishes.

The building dates from the 14th century with the nave built in 1824 by Thomas Ellis of local grey lias stone cut and squared, with Hamstone dressings.

The first known incumbent of the church was in 1297 and the monumental inscriptions date back to Johes Clyke, who died in 1513.

It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade 2 listed building.

To work out the final location of the cache at the listed coordinates there is a telegraph pole. Below 11 there is a white label with 7 large numbers on it. These are ABCDEFG.

Cache is a short stroll away at N 51 01.BDD W 002 33.G(F-C-E)A

“If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list”
