About Wisbech St Mary Station
Wisbech St Mary railway station was a station on the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway line between Wisbech and Peterborough. The station was immediately between Wisbech North and Murrow East Stations
I was visiting relatives in Wisbech St Mary in Station Drive which joins Station Road which in turn is close to Beechings Close. As there is no station or train line in Wisbech St Mary I was wondering about the history so I did a bit of digging. This station was closed in 1959 a while before Dr Richard Beeching published his reports which started the large scale closures of stations and lines. I'd find it odd to name a road near a closed station after Beeching so am unsure if Beechings Close is named after Dr Beeching - could anyone let me know and I'll update the cache page.
The Cache
The cache is a micro magnetically attached to something close to the site of the old railway line and is just off station road.
