In the Second Age, the High Elf Gil-Galad sent an elven force commanded by Elrond to the aid of Eregion, which was attacked by Sauron during the War of the Elves and Sauron. Too late to save Eregion, the force of Elrond and refugees fled to a "deeply-cloven valley" which they named Imladis, or Rivendell. It was ruled by Elrond, and became the chief dwelling of the High Elves in Eriador. It plays a role in both the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, and was one of the few elvish realms to persist into the Fourth Age
To reach Imladris, park at the designated location, then cross the stream and climb north up the hill to the second plateau. The cache should be straightforward to find.
