Based on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Quasar3671 started caching in March 2009 after being introduced to the sport by his brother who was visiting from England at the time.
Since his first find in WA with his brother, Quasar3671 has been finding caches at a steady and ever increasing rate. A great fan of difficult puzzle and high terrain caches, Quasar3671 has often been seen climbing to the top of very tall trees or swimming across cold lakes to find a cache.
A great lover of the classic ‘road trip’, Quasar3671 has had many on-road caching adventures. A recent 20 day trip to Cairns for the 2012 eclipse has been his most memorable, which included a total of 10 days of flat out caching during the drive up and back; traveling over 7000 km, sleeping in the back of the car and averaging about 5 hours of sleep a night. The end result was 717 cache finds for the month, which also included 210 cache finds in a single day.
Quasar3671 introduced his mate Blacklegend to caching not long after he started, and since then the two have would often catch up and cache together whenever they could.
In 2012, Quasar3671 and Blacklegend would often be joined by TrailRunning and from there, ‘The Demolition Crew’ was formed. Later that year, legendary cacher, Rebel Acts joined TDC and now the four cache together on a weekly basis.
When I asked about his bio, Quasar3671 indicated that he has a number of goals he wants to complete in 2013 including Project 366 and Project 81, and try to find over 3000 caches in the year.
