Geocache Description:

A historical walk around the little village of Greyton, which came into being in 1854 and was named after the Governor of the Cape, Sir George Grey.

The above co-ordinates take you to outside the second oldest building in the village.
It was originallly an Anglican Church School but is now the local library.

A = the number of small window panes above the entrance door.

The original post office in Greyton was founded in this establishment.

Glance up the road to the left and take a peek at the Moravian Church which is beautiful in its simplicity.

Turn right into Ds Botha Street and wander past the Railway House on your right, where farmers and villagers used to store their produce before it was delivered to the Cape Town markets.

A little further down this road, on the left, is the Vanilla cafe, which used to be the wagon maker's workshop.

Across the way, on your right, is the famous Oak & Vigne Cafe.

Continue along this road and pass the garden where cows are welcome to visit.

St Andrew's Anglican Church is in Jones Street. It was built in 1904 and the gravestone of Greyton's founder, Herbert Vigne, and his wife, Elizabeth, can be found in the Churchyard.

The well known Greyton market takes place on the village square every Saturday morning from 10h00 to 12h00. Both locals and visitors enjoy spending time here drinking coffee, eating pancakes, chatting and exploring the second hand book store, to name but a few.
Directly opposite the market place is the NG Church.
