Geocache Description:

Number 112 in this series of foot bridges. They will be too small for motor vehicles and usually in the middle of nowhere.  This one is on the Monarch Way and crosses a small tributary of the river Boyd. The Monarch's Way is a 615-mile long-distance footpath that approximates the escape route taken by King Charles II in 1651 after being defeated in the Battle of Worcester.

Having found a number of caches in the "Little Bridges" series, I can't pass one of these without thinking of Stanthews and the series. But until now I have not hidden one.

I crossed this one the other day and thought this would be a good place for a new Little Bridges cache. And as I had a container I won as a prize at one of Stan's events, I decided to use that.

You can do this one as a short walk using the suggested limited parking; though I think only one car will fit there. Or you can combine this cache with others in the Monarch Way South series and park at the alternate coordinates at Court Farm.

The River Boyd is a river of some 7 miles (11 km) in length which rises near Dodington in South Gloucestershire. It is a tributary of the Bristol Avon, running in a southerly direction and joining near Bitton. It was immortalised in the 1613 poem by John Dennys of Pucklechurch "The Secrets of Angling", the earliest English poetical tract on fishing:

And thou sweet Boyd that with thy watry sway
Dost wash the cliffes of Deington and of Weeke
And through their Rockes with crooked winding way
Thy mother Avon runnest soft to seeke
In whose fayre streames the speckled Trout doth play
The Roche the Dace the Gudgin and the Bleeke
Teach me the skill with slender Line and Hooke
To take each Fish of River Pond and Brooke.

You are looking for a small (micro sized) bison tube.

The Little Bridges series was started by Stanthews in 2009 to highlight small footbridges in remote parts of Wiltshire. Since then the series has been expanded by others all over the country and starting to spread fast. There is a stats listing, so you can see how many Little Bridges you have found, you can find it here:- www.littlebridgesseries.co.uk . If you would like to add to the series, please contact Stan via the Little Bridges website with your caching name, name of your Little Bridge and the GC code and he will give you a number for your bridge. To qualify, the bridge must be a foot bridge too small for vehicles, please make sure your title exactly matches "Little Bridges # xxxx then the name" including spaces so it will get picked up and added to stats list.
