Geocache Description:

A really rural cache that can be a cache and dash or longer walk depending where you park. Good road surface to walk on and no hard terrain. Wheelchair users will need assistance at GZ. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PEN!

Pullabrook station was originally named Hawkmoor after a local Isolation hospital and was the smallest station on the line from Newton Abbot to Moretonhampstead; when it opened in June 1931, Great Western Railways was in charge. Only open until April 1964 this tiny station was made of sleepers and with a small waiting room, a bench and a name board only. Parts of the platform remain but in a derelict state and they are not publicly accessible. I tried to see from the road but to no avail - the land being private and used now by the local farmer to graze cows. However there is a wonderful skewed bridge in lovely condition just southeast of the station that goes across Lower Knowle Road and it is here that I have placed this cache. There is no access to the railway line here and there are fences blocking the walker in both directions. This must have been such a lovely train ride back in the day - a shame it had to close.
