Geocache Description:

A trip to the Central Oregon Coast wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the Seal Lion Caves. This Florence staple is a fan and local favorite and it’s easy to see why. Hundreds of Steller sea lions hang out here, sun bathing and bellowing out boisterous roars. Wailing birds, like pigeon guillemots, join the chorus too, making for a memorable experience. The cave is the largest in America with formation of the cavern beginning 25 million years ago! It’s now 12 stories high and as wide as the length of a football field.

The bronze statue outside celebrated the Sea Lion Caves’ 50th anniversary in 1982.

Be sure to bring your camera. There’s a great view point of Heceta Head Lighthouse in the cave.
