Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Survival Cache on Koh Tachai!

We started on a tour through the Similan’s and were speaking to the tour group owner about Geocaching after he saw my GPS. Ralf was so impressed with the concept he suggested that we set up a cache on Koh Tachai, and he would help maintain it as he visited these islands weekly

Clear turquoise waters and squeaky white sandy beaches lend this to being called the Maldives of Thailand. With the waters around the island renowned for its wildlife. At the right time Whale Sharks and Manta Rays pass through these waters following plankton and the currents that support them.

The water clarity here has to be seen to be believed! This island chain was created 65,000,000 years ago when the land mass split way from the Indian continent. The island chain is still moving at 1.2cm south every year.

This is a large cache being a recycled airtight biscuit tin, wrapped in plastic and sunk into the sand above high tide and storm lines

Some scraping of sand will be required to get to the cache. If you are digging you have missed the visual clues and are in the wrong spot

Please rememeber that these islands are home to  many animals such as birds, rats, large monitor lizards and monkeys so replace the cache as found

All of the contents of the cache were donated by other tour group members that got in the spirit of Geocaching

A special thank you to the crew for their help to put this together:
Ralf, Gabriele, Peter, Elke, Jurgen, Arne, Nicole, Thomas, Lisa, Liane, Silvana, Sandi and your's truly

There is a very special treat for the First to Find that is in the spirit of all things Pirate! Aaaaarrrr...

As mentioned the island can only be accessed via boat from the mainland. If further information is needed on how to get to this cache please ask the staff at O’Connor’s Irish Pub in Khao Lak (N8 38.831 E98 15.133) they will be happy to point you in the right direction.
As with any cache, if you take something please replace it with something of similar value.

Small note on cache maintenance:
There is a local cache guardian who will assist.
Name and contact info on file with geocaching.com.
