Geocache Description:

Believe in...... ourselves, our dreams, girls, what we believe in and allow others to believe what they would like to .  These are just some of the things that we believe in as Brownie Girl Scouts. What do you believe in?

With the new journeys and badges that were released just a couple of years ago, Girl Scout Brownies were given the ability to learn about Letterboxing.  The introduction to the badge says -

Letterboxing is an amazing adventure game played by people all over the world.  Use your curiosity and join in.  To play, you follow clues to find a hidden box with special items inside.  In North America, there are thousands of letterboxes.  Maybe ther's one hidden near you right now!

The purpose of the badge is to know how to have fun adventures by finding and hiding letterboxes by completing five steps:

  1. Get started with letterboxing
  2. Find your own stamp
  3. Practice solving clues
  4. Search for a letterbox
  5. Make a letterbox

In the first step, we could choose from making a letterboxing dictionary, thinking of hiding places, or practicing your "seeking" skills.  For this step we made a letterboxing dictionary in a spiral notebook that we could also use as a logbook so that we could place future letterbox stamps.

In the second step, we could choose from creating our own stamp, use a stamp-making kit, or cossing a special stamp.  We tried to make our own stamps, but it did not work out real well for us, so we instead chose a stamp from a bucket of stamps that meant something important to each of us.

The third step had us creating fill-in-the-blank clues, creating a scramble, or creating a number code clue.  We tried all three.

Searching for a letterbox (step 4) had us either go on a letterbox search using a compass, go on an adventure in a new place, or go on a letterbox search that involves a brain puzzle.   Our adventure led us to this area where another letterbox can be found through other searches.

After we finished finding the letterbox, we finished placing our letterbox together.  Next we decided that we also wanted it to be located at this location.  This is where we come to buy our badges and for many events and activities.  What better place to place the letterbox than right here where Girl Scouts from around the area come together.

The letterbox only has the logbook with a stamp in it for now.  We hope that maybe in the future it will also come to be place to swap Girl Scout related items.  If you are not in Girl Scouts or know someone in Girl Scouts that is ok, all visitors are welcomed to come and find this letterbox.  If you are, we would love to hear your story.

Please be considerate of events that take place here.  Approval by the Grounds Committee has been given and when the cache is published, they will receive the cache information.  If there are any problems with the cache, please let us know so that way we can go out and fix it.
