Geocache Description:

Every year since March 1990, Clean Up Australia Day has been held around the country. In that time over 24 million man hours have been donated to collect and dispose of 200 000 tonnes of rubbish on this one annual day alone. So this year, let's make an official geocaching effort in the great South East.

The Idea
There is nothing more Australian than rolling up your sleeves to help out, especially to help maintain our beautiful country. Unfortunately natural disaster is also pretty Australian and in light of the flooding rains of the summer period, Bulimba Creek has become home to a lot of rubbish and debris.

For this CITO the aim will be to clean the creek for a kilometre or two (Most likely north to the Minippi Parklands). All those with a small watercraft (this will be canoe and kayak territory) are encouraged to bring it along and join the Rainbow Flotilla in collecting rubbish from the water. A net or grabby tool of some type will be recommended.

Of course, those without a watercraft are most welcome to attend also. There is a sealed path northwards to the Minippi Parklands and many natural areas along it that I'm sure could do with a clean-up also.

The Event
CITO is short for 'Cache In - Trash Out' and so we will gather for a usual caching event, but split up into groups to fill a bag with rubbish and dispose of properly. All cachers, both new and old to the game are most welcome and encouraged to come along for the day.

The event will kick off at 10:30 AM on Sunday 3 March so we can fuel up with some lunch, garbage bags and gloves can be distributed, canoes and kayaks launched from the nearby pontoon and we can clean-up for the afternoon.

Consider Yourself Invited
Let's have all hands on deck for this one! Please feel free to email me with any questions or suggestions and keep an eye out on this page for any updates. Log your 'Will Attend' now and I'll see you there!

This event has been registered with Clean Up Australia, so click on the Related Webpage up the top to have a look. From there I encourage you to click 'Join This Site'. Any details you enter I, nor the public can see, it will just register our efforts officially towards the national campaign. I do not expect anyone to make a financial donation to the cause, but you are welcome to if you wish.
