WELCOME TO
HORSE & FALCON SOUQ
This is a cache that I have been meaning to place here for a long time. Once you have finished walking around the "retail" part of Souq Waqif you need to do yourself a favour and venture across to this end of the Souq.
Here you will be able to wander around, in and out of shops, talking to some extremely interesting people. If you are lucky you will be able to see [and talk with] falcon trainers and owners who come here to discuss the finer points of the art of falconery and to buy supplies. Many of the shops will have people busy making many of the accessories by hand, often to very exacting specifications for the owners of the falcons. You will also see the Souq Waqif Falcon Hospital. If you have enough time go inside and chat to the staff - veru ineteresting indeed.
Closer to the cache location you will find the Arabian Horse stables. Wander around and enjoy being up close to these magnificent creatures. Often the stable hands will be busy with their chores and will be more than helpful in imparting information about there charges. During the cooler hours of the day you will see the horses being exercised in the adjoining enclosure. If you are really lucky - especially during the winter months - you can see the traditional riders practising for various events as well.
