This will be the first of the Techno Events for 2013.
The afternoon will be focused mainly on GSAK, a PC based geocaching database tool, and how to use it to optimise your geocaching experience and how to create your statistics. It will also include a session on other PC tools that help with finding caches and logging trackables easily.
The venue has limited seating (25) for those who want to come and join us between 1:00pm and 5:00pm to see the technical session, please post your attendance early as seating is on a "first come first served" basis.
However, should you want to come just to meet up with everybody and renew caching friendships, discover some new coins or just enjoy a sundowner, braai fires will be available from 5:00pm onwards. Please bring along your own "dop & chop".
Refreshments will also be provided during the breaks throughout the afternoon. When logging your intended attendance, please indicate whether you will be coming to the "byte", "bite" or both. This will help us with the necessary logistical arrangements.
1:00 - 1:15 settle in and get organised
1:15 - 1:45 Damhuisclan - logging many trackables at once using GSAK
1:45 - 2:15 Pte Curb - facilitate a reviewer feedback session
2:15 - 2:30 leg stretch and short break
2:30 - 3:00 ThomasfamilyZA – using Firefox with Greasemonkey scripts to customise geocaching.com
3:00 - 3:30 BrendsZA and ThomasfamilyZA – logging cache finds using GSAK
3:30 - 4:00 leg stretch and longer break
4:00 – 4:30 ThomasfamilyZA - GSAK, maintaining our database of all South African caches, planning our GPS series run, generating our statistics
4:30 – 5:00 Q&A session on GSAK, there will be several GSAK users around, so ask anything else you want to know
5:00pm till whenever... braai, socialising, swapping coins, discovering new coins while having a great time enjoying yourselves to the full. Please bring along whatever you want to eat and drink and enjoy meeting everybody else.
We will finalise the agenda closer to the time, in the meantime, if you have any specific topics you want covered, please let us know.
