De multicache bestaat uit 28 foto's met daarbij de GPS-coördinaten. Maar let op: de helft van de coördinaten klopt en de andere helft niet. Door naar de verschillende plekken toe te rijden, kom je daar vanzelf achter. In het schema dat je onder de foto's ziet, kun je de corresponderende vakjes met daarin de cijfers achter elkaar zetten. De notatie van de coordinaten is hetzelfde als je onder de foto's ziet staan (bijv. 52.13.467 04.13.556), en loopt van boven naar beneden, volgens een patroon dat je zelf zult moeten vinden. Vrijwel alle plaatsen zijn het hele jaar (24/7) te bereiken, met uitzondering van de foto met de driehoek erop. Die is alleen tussen zonsopgang en -ondergang toegankelijk.
De begincoördinaten leiden je naar de P+R parkeerplaats van NS-station Sassenheim; daar is doorgaans voldoende parkeerruimte. Maar je kunt eigenlijk op elke willekeurige plek langs de route beginnen. De nummering van de waypoints kun je als een hulpmiddel gebruiken, maar is zeker geen noodzakelijke route.
Bij dezen overigens mijn hartelijke dank voor W2AP voor al zijn hulp en adviezen, en voor Bigbird voor het idee voor deze cache. Voor de liefhebbers: op Terschelling is de cache 'Verzuurt niet' van het zelfde type.
Over de gemeente Teylingen
De gemeente Teylingen bestaat sinds 2006. De gemeente wordt gevormd door de drie woonkernen Sassenheim, Warmond en Voorhout. De naam Teylingen is afkomstig van het buurtschap Teylingen, waar je doorheen komt tijdens het oplossen van de cache. Vroeger stond daar het Slot Teylingen. Nu kun je alleen nog de restanten bewonderen als Ruïne van Teylingen. De ruïne is te bezoeken tussen maart en november.
Slot Teylingen dateert al uit de 13e eeuw en werd gebouwd door de heren van Teylingen. Het was oorspronkelijk een kasteel waarmee de route tussen Haarlem en Den Haag bewaakt werd. De bekendste bewoner van het kasteel is Jacoba van Beieren (1401-1436), die er ook stierf. De kruidentuin van het slot was De Keukenhof. De latere graven van Holland verbleven ook nu en dan op het kasteel. In de Tachtigjarige Oorlog (1568-1648) is het Slot Teylingen verwoest door de Spanjaarden. Weliswaar is het kasteel in 1605 weer hersteld, maar na een brand in 1675 in de donjon is het slot langzamerhand in verval geraakt.
De kern Sassenheim is de grootste van de drie. Sassenheim is al heel oud. Het ligt op de weg van Leiden naar Haarlem. De dorpskerk in het centrum is ongeveer 1.000 jaar oud. In Sassenheim staat het Rijnlands Lyceum, de enige scholengemeenschap in de gemeente. De bijnaam van de inwoners van Sassenheim was (vroeger) 'aspotters'. Sassenheimers hadden het monopolie in de streek voor het ophalen van as. Dat werd verkocht aan zeepziederijen om er zeep van te kunnen maken.
Warmond is het kleinste dorp, met ongeveer 5.000 inwoners. In Warmond is de watersport belangrijk. Het dorp ligt aan de Kaag. Van hieruit kun je makkelijk de Kagerplassen op. De Kagerplassen zijn ontstaan door het steken van turf in het vroegere moeras.
Voorhout dateert van rond het jaar 1000. Een van de beroemdste inwoners van het dorp was arts Herman Boerhaave (1668-1738). Naast arts en anatoom had hij als hoogleraar een tijdlang drie van de vijf leerstoelen van de medische faculteit, was rector magnificus van de Universiteit van Leiden en directeur van de Hortus Botanicus Leiden; hij stond bekend als begenadigd docent en was een van de bekendste mannen van Europa. Zijn faam reikte zelfs tot in China. In Voorhout vind je nog de kruidentuin bij zijn vroegere woonhuis, waar hij zijn eigen planten kweekte en op zoek was naar de medicinale werking ervan. Een bekende Voorhouter van nu is keeper Edwin van der Sar, die zijn keeperscarrière begon bij voetbalclub Foreholte.
De grote hoeveelheid riante herenhuizen aan de Hoofdstraat in Sassenheim en ook op andere plaatsen in de gemeente herinnert aan de rijke tijd van de gemeente als bollengemeente. De gemeente Teylingen herbergt nog een aantal bollenvelden, maar lang niet zoveel meer als vroeger. In de periode maart-mei zijn er echter volop bloemen te bewonderen!

This cache is a bicycle/walking cache of around 20 kilometers through the municipality of Teylingen and partly the bulbflower region. The region is pretty throughout the year, so not only in springtime, when the bulbs are in bloom on the fields. Some parts of the route are not suitable for cars. Almost the entire route is accessible throughout the year, with the exception of the picture of the triangle. That waypoint is accessible between dusk and dawn.
The multi cache consists of 28 pictures, accompanied by their coordinates. However: half of the coordinates is incorrect. By traveling to the respective coordinates you will find out if the pictures and the coordinates fit together. If so, you use the digit in the corresponding table underneath. If you put them after each other, you will find the right coordinates to find the cache location. You should use the same notation for the coordinates as is the case for the coordinates accompanying the pictures (e.g. 52.13.467 04.13.556). The pattern of the table you should find out for yourself.
The cache coordinates lead you to the parking place of the Sassenheim railway station, but you can start anywhere you like. You can use the numbers of the waypoints as an aid during the route, but it is not necessary to follow this direction to be able to clear the cache.
About the municipality of Teylingen
The municipality of Teylingen exists since 2006. Teylingen constitutes of 3 villages: Sassenheim, Voorhout and Warmond. The name 'Teylingen' is derived from the hamlet Teylingen, which you will pass by when traveling to the various picture locations. In early times the ruin you will discover was known as the castle of Teylingen. You can visit the ruin between March and November. The castle of Teylingen was founded in the 13th century. Originally it was a fortress to guard the main street between the cities of Haarlem and The Hague. The most well known inhabitant of the castle is Jacoba van Beieren (1401-1436) who lived there the last three years of her life. Her herb garden is nowadays known by the name of Keukenhof. Later on the dukes of Holland owned the castle. During the Dutch Revolt (1568-1648) the castle was destroyed by the Spanish soldiers, but was being rebuilt. After a big fire in the main part of the castle (now the ruin) in 1675 the castle hash't been restored and gradually it became the ruin it is now.
The village of Sassenheim is the biggest of the three villages. Sassenheim exists already for around 1,000 years. It is one of the villages along the road from the city of Leiden to Haarlem. The church in the centre of the village is one of the oldest buildings. In Sassenheim you find the only secondary/high school in the municipality where pupils from the whole region are following lessons. The nickname for the inhabitants of Sassenheim is 'ash trayers', since in early times they had the monopoly for gathering ashes. The ashes were used in the soap industry.
Warmond is the smallest village, with some 5,000 inhabitants. Warmond is build on the borders of the Kagerplassen (now a lake, but formerly a moor, from which peat was cut).
Voorhout originates from the year 1000 AD. One of the most famous inhabitants was Herman Boerhaave (1668-1738). Besides being a doctor and anatomist he was one of the professors of the medical faculty of the Leiden University, also rector magnificus and director of the ' hortus botanicus' of the Leiden University. He was famous throughout Europe and even in China for being an outstanding teacher. In Voorhout you will discover his herb garden, in which he grew his own plants and investigated the medicinal purposes of various plants. One of the contemporary celebrities of Voorhout is Edwin van der Sar, the former keeper of the Dutch soccer team and Manchester City.
The huge amount of big houses along the main street of Sassenheim and elsewhere in the municipality reminds of the wealthy times, when Sassenheim was in the centre of the flower bulb industry. Nowadays there is still a number of flower bulb fields in and around Teylingen, but only a small percentage of earlier times. But in spring (March to May) you will discover a huge amount of them!
