When:
Sunday 26th May 2013
Where:
The Tanners at Juniper Green, at the above co-ordinates.
The event will be held in the conservatory at the rear of the pub.
Children are welcome.
The car park is to the rear of the Tanners Public House. Entrance is tight, so if you have a large vehicle you may have to park it out front where there are spaces for up to 3 vehicles. This is also the place for disabled parking, so please be prepared to move if required.
There is also nearby on street parking. If you are not using your car for the treasure hunt, it is requested for you to use the on street parking. This will stop any chance of a gridlock in the car park.
Time:
1 p.m. until around 7 p.m.
Details:
Teams will be going out on a 2 ish hour car treasure hunt. Followed by an early evening meal around 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Details and full instructions on the day for the format of the ‘treasure hunt' when you arrive.
Teams:
I would advise teams of 4-5 people per car.
If you wish to form a team please let Haggis Hunter know by email, giving me your ‘team’ name, cachers names, number of people in your team and whether you can accommodate any other people within your team. Also if you intend to eat or not.
For cachers wishing to combine with other cachers either organise between you and let me know or alternatively let me know and I can help 'pair' you up.
Please note: That this is an extremely popular event. So it is on a first come first served basis. I am limiting the number of cars to 12 teams on the road, so please organise teams if possible before contacting me (full cars please). I won’t be chasing up your ‘will attend’ log, so please ensure that you contact Haggis Hunter by email to secure your place for the event.
I would prefer no on the day entries. All teams must be notified to Haggis Hunter by 5pm Saturday 25th May.
Clues:
The basic format will be that you will be setting out looking for GPS co-ordinates, answering questions and completing tasks.
There may be a few other surprises for you.
Prizes:
In order to cut down on costs, It would be appreciated if every team could bring an item that is Geocaching related (around £2 per person or 1 prize around £8 - £10 per car). These will then be given out as prizes.
Co-ordinates:
On the day I will provide instructions, questions and full co-ordinates. You do not have to do any pre work before the day.
What do you need:
• Car full of petrol.
• Mobile phone, preferably one that you have free calls with.
• A GPS per car, Sat Navs will be allowed .
• A digital camera that you can film a video with and replay once back in the pub.
• A writing implement.
• Items of Cowboy & Indian attire. This may include toy guns, hobby horses, bow & arrows etc. The more the team has the better.
• Prizes (see above!)
• A sense of humour!
Food:
Food will be served once the hunt has been completed. Please ensure that you book and pay for your meals before leaving for the hunt.
Important Instructions:
As cache/event setter I cannot accept any responsibility for any problems encountered during the day, including motoring accidents, speeding etc etc.
It is entirely your responsibility if you take part in the event.
By setting out to this event, the driver is responsible for any third party action that may arise during the day. I as organiser am not responsible for any actions by yourself at all.
See notes below re driver
The route could be 40+ miles so please ensure you have a full tank of petrol.
Full rules and instructions will be given on the day. Brief will be at 1:30 p.m. and first vehicle to depart soon after, so please be prompt!
Driver:
The Driver has to apply to all UK driving laws and therefore as such whilst the vehicle is moving must take no part in the treasure hunt (looking at GPS, reading maps, making decisions etc. He/she can take instructions from passengers as to which direction to drive in).
He/she must be in full control of the vehicle and even though the event is time based all speeding laws must be followed, and obviously drive slower if the conditions require.
Co-ordinates must be passed if the road conditions or traffic does not allow safe stopping.
It is the driver’s complete responsibility for the event and his/her passengers.
Driving faster than you would for an 'average' day out in the countryside is the driver’s responsibility, and I suggest for this event that it should not happen.
